Academic Pathways for Grades 9–12

At Nova High School Canada, students in Grades 9 to 12 choose from a range of academic courses that help them strengthen essential skills, discover their interests, and plan for the post-secondary options that best match their goals. Our University and College Preparation courses are thoughtfully developed to equip learners with the knowledge, study habits, and academic background required for admission to leading colleges and universities across Canada and internationally.

To support diverse learning needs and schedules, Nova High School offers these courses through both online and on-campus formats, giving every student the flexibility to progress in a way that works for them.

University Preparation Program– Nova High School Canada

Nova High School Canada’s University Preparation Program (UPP) is designed to support students—both international and domestic—who are completing high school and planning their next steps in higher education or career development. The program offers a broad selection of Ontario Ministry of Education–approved courses that help strengthen academic skills, improve critical thinking, and build a solid foundation for future success.

Students receive personalized guidance to achieve their individual goals, gaining the confidence, knowledge, and skills needed for a smooth transition to university, college, or the workforce. International students also benefit from support in adapting to Canada’s education system, ensuring both academic readiness and cultural understanding.

Entry Requirements

Completion of all prerequisite courses required for the UPP.

Minimum of three English courses; specific requirements depend on the chosen program stream.

Students who have completed the IELTS exam are not required to take the UPP entry test.

Program Sequence

The University Preparation Program at Nova High School offers four intakes each year: January, May, July and September.

Students can take 3 to 5 courses per semester.

A minimum of 3 courses per semester is required to maintain full-time status.
